Rolex Sea-Dweller ref 16660 "Triple Six" was produced for a little over a decade between 1978 and 1989. It replaced the vintage ref. 1665, bringing with it a sapphire crystal, increased water resistance, and a higher-beat movement. Depending on the reference, it will also have either painted indices or modern white gold-trimmed indices. The example you see here is the latter. With the release of ref. 16660, the bezel was upgraded to a uni-directional mounting, and the Helium Escape Valve is larger. This Rolex is an integral part of the collection's history.

Rolex Sea-Dweller ref 16600 was one of the very last Sea-Dweller models to be produced with an aluminum bezel before ref. 16600 was discontinued and replaced a few years later with the ceramic bezel generation. It sports the same 40mm Oyster case and Cyclops-free calendar display as its successor but with many notable cosmetic differences. The hour markers on this late 2000s model are smaller, and the aluminum bezel only has minute markers in the 15-minute graduations. Ref. 16600 is a fascinating edition of the famed deep saturation diver that will appeal to passionate collectors familiar with the brand's history. Of course, it also sports the famed Helium Escape Valve.
